There’s nothing worse than having fleas in your house. It’s not only a health hazard but annoying and embarrassing! My dog, Bruce, and cat, Skipper, are indoor/outdoor pets so they bring in pests sometimes (and the occasional dead gopher — thanks Skipper). Fleas and ticks are disgusting parasites that carry disease but can be easily stopped with the right flea and tick control medicines. I use K9 Advantix for Bruce and Frontline Top Spot for Cats. Both kill fleas and ticks on one medication. As for the house, I use Frontline Spray. Just spray those suckers (pun intended) directly. They all work great and I’ve only heard positive reviews. 

Last fall I made a very common mistake. I made a very common mistake, thought flea and tick protection is only needed during the spring or summer. This is not always true. I found out the hard way after taking Bruce to the dog park; he had fleas! These pests can survive in warmer climates and in houses. Stopping flea and tick medication during the fall and winter can open the door for another infestation and disease. Don’t make this mistake and keep on the medications year round. Some people are understandably concerned about the cost. I find it’s cheaper to get pet meds and pet supplies online. There are great online pet stores that offer low prices on petmeds and supplies.
